Here is a list of video sharing sites for you struggling Artists out there. I know how it goes; you uploaded your music video/film trailer to YouTube six months ago and you only have 400 views and you are wondering what went wrong? I’m going to devote an entire chapter in the upcoming book to video online and how to get the most out of it as an indie artist.
One thing you can do is not put all your eggs in one basket. There are many sites out there that will host your video for free and each one of them has their own audience. It is true that they may be small audiences but on those sites you stand a much better chance of being discovered by that audience than you do on mega sites like YouTube.
The pool of content on YouTube is simply so huge (36 hrs of video uploaded every minute or some insane number like that) that it is almost impossible to be seen there. It is like the flakes of snow on the side of a mountain. Every one of those snowflakes is said to be different. As one of those flakes you might be special and unique in many ways. But how will the casual observer ever be aware of that?
So it just stands to reason that the more places you can put your video the more people will become aware of you and it is all for free as long as you invest the few minutes it takes to upload your video to as many sites as you can. This will also help with your search engine ranking. There is a lot more info on this subject that will further refine how you approach video and optimize each placement which will be in the book but for now let me give you a link to this list of 300 video sharing sites to get you started. Have fun.
